War Crimes in
Côte d'Ivoire: here is the list of the accused soldiers

Soir Info  -

Human Rights Watch (HRW) published on Thursday October 6 2011, a
report on events which happened in Côte d'Ivoire. The two political camps were
accused by the international organization of committing crimes. The organization
said that it was surprised to notice that the new authorities were trying their
best to punish only one camp. According to Human Rights Watch (HRW), "since the
day he took power, the first measures by Ouattara to fight against impunity was
biased". Six months after the fall of Laurent Gbagbo, the new strong man of Cote
d'Ivoire is accused of forgetting his promises of equal justice and his desire
to bring to court criminals of its own camp. For Human Rights Watch (HRW), "(...)
despite his promise to punish people who have committed dreadful crimes, Mr.
Ouattara has done nothing to bring to justice members of the Republican Forces.
The justice is in reality the justice of the winners". According to the
international organization when fighting stopped by May, the combattants of
Ouattara committed atrocities which were nothing but crimes that can be judged
by international court. Officers of the two parties were involved in war crimes
and even crime against humanity. Ouattara and his Minister of Justice, Jeannot
Kouadio Ahoussou, are criticized for their passivity. Even worse, the
organization noticed that some of their military officers involved in crimes
have been promoted. "Time has come- HRW said- for Ouattara to prove by deeds
that his desire for impartial justice is far from a mere speech"

committee of FPI is clear: "there will be no effective reconciliation before the
release of Laurent Gbagbo"

Notre Voie  –

The

Central Committee and the secretaries general of the Ivorian
Popular Front (FPI) met yesterday at the headquarters of the National congress
of the Resistance and Democracy, at Cocody. During the four-hour meeting they
discussed about the meeting some members of the FPI had with President Ouattara.
They talked about the forthcoming International Criminal Court investigation on
war crimes in Cote d'Ivoire. The committee after encouraging dialogue and
reconciliation among Ivorians, warned the executive board of the FPI to be
extremely vigilant. As a matter of fact, they agreed with the necessity for
reconciliation but they argued that to be complete reconciliation must start
with the release of Gbagbo, his wife, his son and all political prisoners.
