UN Operation in Cote d'Ivoire UNOCI has undertaken the rehabilitation of the
offices of the sub Prefecture of Kouan-Houle (Danane division) within the
framework of its Quick Impact Projects programme. The rehabilitation follows the
recent holding of a 3-day sensitisation campaign for peace and reconciliation
known as UN days in the region.
Fraternite Matin
: UNOCI organised a sensitisation forum for some 50 local administrative
authorities and elites of the greater west region in Daloa recently in order to
promote social cohesion and national reconciliation. The aim was to encourage
the opinion leaders to be fully invloved in the reconciliation process by
promoting the spirit of forgiveness.

President Alassane Ouattara on an official visit to Congo-Brazzaville has said
it was up to the International Criminal Court( ICC) to furnish additional
evidence in the case against former Ivorian president Laurent Gbagbo as
requested by the Court. Mr. Ouattara was responding to reporters who wanted him
to comment on last Monday's decision by the ICC to adjourn the confirmation of
charges against Laurent Gbagbo. "The ICC is doing its job and I am doing mine,"
Mr. Ouattara replied.
Nord-Sud:
Sources close to the ICC say the Prosecutor Fatou Bensouda plans to appeal
against the decision by the ICC to adjourn the confirmation of charges against
Laurent Gbagbo by arguing that the initial evidence brought before the court
was valid.
Le Temps
says the UN Operation in Cote d'Ivoire UNOCI, in an attempt to come to the
rescue of the Ouattara regime following the ICC adjournment, on Saturday staged
and filmed a scene in Duekoue in which it simulates the burning of a UNOCI
helicopter purportedly by pro-Gbagbo activists. UNOCI Spokesperson Sylvie van
den Wildenberg who was contacted by Le Temps, confirmed the
simulation exercise saying it was a prelude to a joint military exercise with
the Ivorian Army scheduled for 25 June . Le Temps however believes
the exercise was aimed at "fabricating evidence to be supplied to Fatou
Bensouda."
