General Hafiz said on Tuesday in Abidjan that his term as Force Commander of the

Alain Juppé: « The United Nations and the African Union should take on their
responsibility »

Speaking at a press conference, Alain Juppé, the French Minister of Foreign
Affairs, on Wednesday, called on "the United Nations and the African Union" to
take on their "responsibility" in the Ivorian crisis, considering that France
"cannot do everything everywhere". "We cannot do everything everywhere. There is
in Africa an organization named the African Union. There is in Abidjan a force
known as UNOCI, the United Nations Operation in Côte d'Ivoire. France is not
responsible for going on the ground", he said regarding the management of
affairs by France in the Libyan crisis which is much different from its
commitment in Côte d'Ivoire. He therefore called on the different international
actors involved in the resolution of the post-electoral conflict in Côte
d'Ivoire to "take their responsibility". (...)

pro-Ouattara activists' demonstration against UN's "passivity"

Hundreds activists of Alassane Ouattara, the Ivorian President acknowledged by
the international community, on Wednesday demonstrated in Bouaké (centre) to
protest against the United Nations' "passivity", said a correspondent of the

Liberia: The
government and HCR are worried about the return of Liberian mercenaries from
Côte d'Ivoire

The return of Liberian mercenaries from Côte d'Ivoire to their country could
start a new war in Liberia, said the Liberian Minister of the Interior, on
Wednesday. (...) The chief of the UN mission in Liberia (MINUL), Margaret Loj,
also said she was worried. "I do not know how many they are, she said, I have
never met them before, if they are still in Côte d'Ivoire, this is a concern".
"What is most worrying is the fact that the disarmament was not done before the
elections in Côte d'Ivoire. I am afraid that arms may come back to Liberia", she
said.




 




Resolution of
Ivorian crisis – ECOWAS relies on the United Nations

Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) which held its ordinary
summit and addressed among other issues, the Ivorian crisis, it simply decided
to rely on the United Nations (UN). "I think we can adopt a resolution to ask
the UN to take serious decisions regarding the Ivorian crisis", said Nigerian
President Goodluck Jonathan, the current Chairman of the ECOWAS, speaking at the

being "rebels" were assaulted on Monday by young people in Aboudé-Mandeké

Once again shells have been launched over some neighbourhoods, resulting in 4
deaths and serious injuries. According to information given by some residents,
the population was having a peaceful night like the daytime. (...) Late in the
night a shell was launched over the surrounding area of pharmacy "La Me" (...)
resulting in two people being seriously injured. Then another shell was launched
over the Sagbé neighbourhood. There, the heavy arm resulted in 4 deaths and two
seriously injured.

has been burnt. The premises were attacked with heavy arms. (...) We find on the
