United
Nations demands « immediate » announcement of results in Côte d'Ivoire

www.connectionivoirienne.net
– The UN
Secretary-General, on Wednesday, asked for the "immediate" announcement of the
results of presidential elections in Côte d'Ivoire, after the expiry of the
deadline. "The Secretary-General underlines the need for the Independent
Electoral Commission to complete its work and announce the provisional results
immediately", said the UN Chief's spokesman. "The Secretary-General asks all the
Ivorian parties and the institutions to show responsibility and refrain from any
initiative until the provisional results are announced", he added. While
admitting that the Electoral Commission should have an additional deadline "if
need be", he insisted on the fact that the announcement of results "was a
crucial element regarding the integrity and validity of the electoral process".
Many appeals were made throughout the world on Wednesday for the IEC to finally
announce the name of the winner in the second round between the incumbent
President Laurent Gbagbo and his opponent Alassane Ouattara. (...)

Deadlock in electoral process
– Choi meets Soro

l'Expression  –

The Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Côte d'Ivoire, Y.J.
Choi, met the Ivorian Prime Minister, Guillaume Soro, on Wednesday 1st
December 2010 to discuss the management of the post-electoral process. The
French and American Ambassadors, Jean-Marc Simon and Philippe Carter III,
attended the thirty-minute meeting. Questioned by journalists after the meeting,
neither of them commented the meeting.

Press release: UNOCI
transports the last tally sheets

Le Patriote  –

The last tally sheets of the second round of the Ivorian presidential election
were received on Wednesday 1st December 2010 by the Principal Deputy
Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Côte d'Ivoire, Abou
Moussa, at the Air Transport Liaison Group (GATL) in Abidjan. Receiving the
tally sheets from the Bas Sassandra region, Mr. Moussa said it was a relief to
him because the operation was carried out without incident. The PDSRSG of the
United Nations Operation in Côte d'Ivoire (UNOCI) also thanked all the actors
involved in the transport of the electoral material and the PV. The tally sheets
were then handed over to the Independent Electoral Commission. It should be
noted that the delivery of those PV from the Bas Sassandra region marks the end
of the convoy of all the PV at the headquarters of the IEC in Abidjan. They have
been transported from the 10,000 polling centres to the central headquarters
through 326 local commissions, 326 sub-prefecture commissions, 70 district
commissions and the 19 regional commissions.

Faced with our fate: does the
international community deserve our absolute confidence?

Le Temps  – (...)

Let us remember that the "international community", the United Nations, European
Union and OIF are just pseudonyms of France concerning the issue of Côte
d'Ivoire. Pseudonyms, France is attempting to give an international legitimacy
to its actions. Let us avoid blind confidence in these institutions! Generally,
these western "international observers" do not come to Africa to help for the
advent of democracy: in Africa, they want to have puppets who will always owe
them something. (...) the eccentric and hypocrital statements by Choi and western
observers which invite us to accept a grotesque fraud they will never accept in
their country should be ignored. (...) Under pressure from France' pressure, will
Mr. Choi be able to refuse "a little service" to his mentor Ban Ki-Moon to whom
he owes his "lucrative" post? The question is still not answered. We should
understand that Ouattara and his allies did not make so much effort and take so
many risks simply to stop there. For sure they plan to make maximum profit from
their "investment" by snatching by all means and especially by cheating and
collusions, what they did not obtain with arms. (...) We should ignore those who
want us to believe that to be responsible means accepting the unacceptable,
grotesque frauds and odious crimes without protestation. With all the
compromises, in the long run, we will lose respect and we risk selling off our
country. The future generations will not forgive us such weakness.

Ivorian presidential
election/in the intricacies of an international plot

Le Nouveau Courrier  –

Y.J. Choi seems to be an expert in using cunning, the street and international
community to impose ADO by all means. In this scheme, the IEC should speak
first, then the Constitutional Council speaks... to be better marginalized. So
what is the role of YJ Choi, the Special Representative of Ban Ki-Moon in Côte
d'Ivoire? Anyway, the UNOCI Chief seems to be used as the main arm of an
international hazy that has been in the planning for many years to use the
presidential election to change the nature of the Ivorian regime, whatever the
election result. (...)

After barbarity in Sinfra,
UNOCI covers RDR's crimes

Notre Voie–

The UN mission in Côte d'Ivoire (UNOCI) has just put an action which will
contribute to discredit its already controversial role in our country. In fact,
in its information note number 1024 published on 30 November 2010, UNOCI changes
the statement given to one of its missions in the centre-west part of the
country. [...] According to the release, the Prefect of Sinfra said that there
have never been deaths in his locality. [...]  « I deny this dishonest method of
UNOCI's missionaries », said Prefect Konian, obviously angry. [...] Mr. Hamadoun
Touré confirmed that he really received a call from the prefect and he was
checking the record of the exchange between UNOCI and the Prefect. Later, Mr.
Hamadoun Touré confirmed that he checked the records and the Prefect's
statement. Where is the truth? [...] Prefect Konian says that he did an evaluation
for the UN officers [...] "People continue to say that UNOCI's mission is to
destroy Côte d'Ivoire, now I see that they are right", said Prefect Nianson
Konian, promising to call back Hamadoun Touré to demand the record. And he
called us to say that Mr. Touré finally promised to correct his statement. [...]
Obviously, UNOCI is going to have problems in the Ivorian conflict. The conflict
of statements reminds us the statements by Young Jin Choi who did not see the
savage actions perpetrated in the regions controlled by the rebellion on the day
of the second round of presidential elections. We understand the reasons which
induced him to say that the election was "globally democratic".

The Peace and Security Council
of the African Union: "Accept the results"

Arabic Libyan Jamahiriya, popular and socialist, on 30 November 2010 welcomed

on 28 November 2010. (...) The Council asked the Ivorian parties to (...) accept the
election results and resort to procedures as stated by the law to resolve all
electoral appeal. (...)

The Peace and
Security Council of African Union: "You must accept the verdict from the polls"

Le Patriote

The Peace and
Security Council of the African Union, during its 250th meeting in Tripoli,
Libya on November 30, 2010, appreciated the smooth running of the second round
of the presidential election in Côte d'Ivoire on 28 November 2010. It is
satisfied by the declaration of the Special Representative of the Secretary
General of the UN and Mission observation of the ECOWAS. The Council invited
Ivorian parties to spare no effort for the successful completion of the process
of implementation of the Ouagadougou Political Agreement and its Supplementary
Agreements, in particular, to accept the election results and the popular will
and, if necessary, to use the mechanisms and procedures provided by law for the
resolution of all electoral disputes. (...)

Rumours of the
proclamation of the result by the IEC /Bakayoko is clear "We have not disclosed
any results yet"

L'Inter

The

Chairman of the
Independent Electoral Commission (IEC), Youssouf Bakayoko, appeared yesterday,
Wednesday on national television to reassure Ivorians that he and his team are
working to give the real results of the presidential election. He denied reports
of the proclamation of results that are going around the country yesterday. "I
would like to thank you the Ivorians for your great patience. We have, since the
end of the voting, began to validate the results we received from different
regions of Côte d'Ivoire and of course from various polling stations and various
local electoral commissions. This work continues, we have not yet completed it.
When we are ready, the National Television will broadcast our deliberations. So
I want you to be patient, indulgent and give us time to work with confidence.

Press release of
the Forces Nouvelles

Le Patriote  -

The  Forces Nouvelles were surprised by the reckless statements  made by Mrs.
N'dieguene Seynabou, the observer from the African Civil Society for Democracy
and Electoral Assistance (OSCADAE), Mr. Jean Marie N'gondji Bagangte of the
coordination of election observers from Africa, and Compaore Seydou, of the
Coordination of the International Mission of Observers from African Civil
Society (COMISCA). These three (3) observation missions curiously repeated the
serious charges made against the Forces Nouvelles by the Presidential Majority
(LMP). Obviously, the manoeuvre is not only to corroborate these groundless
accusations, but to serve as evidence to support the invalidation by the
Constitutional Council, of the votes in the Centre, North and West. While,
internationally recognized organizations, such as the African Union, ECOWAS,
European Union, the Carter Centre and many others, have all been unanimous on
the democratic election of the second round held throughout the country,
particularly in the Centre, Northern and Western regions, these so-called
African observers, among whom a Moroccan vendor of jeans in Treichville was
clearly identified, have suddenly become electoral expert.

Before
proclamation of the electoral results: Extensive diplomatic ballet, yesterday,
at the CEI.

Soir Info  –
There is a special
atmosphere on December 1, 2010 at the Electoral Commission headquarters at Deux-
Plateaux. The day before, the results of the second round of the presidential
had not been proclaimed and the national and international press were told that
yesterday at 11 am the results will be proclaimed. Unfortunately, until late
afternoon the results were not disclosed. Many journalists waiting in front of
the entrance gate witnessed a real diplomatic ballet, while according to
reliable sources, the Commissioners were in conclave. Discussions were sometimes
stormy officials said. Until our reporting team left the scene, the white smoke
was not released yet. According to indiscretions, discussions stumbled on the
validation of results in some northern areas in particular. (...)

Statement of the
RHDP's candidate on the IEC: "That situation is incongruous and inacceptable"

Le Patriote  -

(...) On Wednesday, 1 December 2010 before midnight, the provisional results
should have been announced by the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC). Today
is Wednesday 1 December, and at this hour, these provisional results have not
been proclaimed by the IEC, thus exposing us to a situation of uncertainty. Our
compatriots who are waiting for the results since Sunday night and me as a
candidate are concerned by the situation. Our concern is so legitimate that
yesterday, Tuesday, November 30, front of national and international media, the
commissioners representing the Presidential Majority physically prevented the
announcement of the provisional results. This is inappropriate and unacceptable.
The local electoral commissions have already published their results, which are
available with the candidates, the Prime Minister, the UN Special Representative
and the Facilitator's representative and the embassies.

Results of the
second round in the areas of the Forces Nouvelles: The presidential Majority has
filed a motion to cancel the votes / Affi N'Guessan, "We will fight until the
end ..."

Soir Info -

The LMP has no intention of staying on in

power but we
will fight to until the end against any attempt to usurp power." Pascal Affi
N'Guessan, the spokesperson for the presidential candidate of the majority said
yesterday during a press conference at his home in Riviera. He also said that
his camp was going to file, the same day, a motion to cancel the results of the
second round in the Central, Northern and Western regions controlled by the ex
rebellion
.
