Opposition women insult Y. J.
Choi - Why women in the RHDP are now attacking the United Nations!

Le Temps -

"The Representative of the UN
Secretary-General for Côte d'Ivoire, Y. J. Choi, is innovating the way he
handles the Ivorian crisis. This seems to be contrary to the opposition women's
liking. Henriette Dao, Therese N'dri Yoman (PDCI), Virginie Touré (MFA) went
last Friday 12 March to UNOCI's headquarters in Abidjan (ex hotel Sebroko in
Attécoubé). The biggest blunder; Like parrots, following the men of the RHDP
they said the same old story: "the problem in Côte d'Ivoire is Gbagbo", "Choi
what are you doing about the United Nations' resolution", "we want a precise
date for the election, women say no to postponement" (...) the Special
Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Côte d'Ivoire, Young
Jin Choi, who will go to New York soon to take part in the United Nations
Security Council meeting which will examine the Ivorian peace process on 17
March did not escape the arrogance of the opposition women. (...)"

UNOCI sensitizes

Demain -

The United Nations Operation in Côte d'Ivoire (UNOCI) participated on Thursday
10 March in a sensitization session on children's rights, early pregnancy and
sexually transmitted diseases, organized by school children in Tabagne, 461 km
north-east of Abidjan. On this occasion, Kouadio Oschard from UNOCI's Child
Protection Unit urged children to focus on their studies in order to be future
professionals and avoid practices which can destroy their future. He also had a
message for adults: "Do all you can so that young girls in this region go to
school and births are registered", he said.

Crisis resolution/Guillaume
Soro (Secretary-General of the FN): "Now it is possible to organize this
election"

Le Nouveau Réveil -

"Started last week, the Forces Nouvelles' seminar which was under the leadership
of Prime Minister Guillaume Soro, Secretary-General of the FN, ended yesterday
Sunday 14 March in Bouaké. (...)

On this occasion, after having
congratulated and thanked all of the participants, Guillaume Soro,
Secretary-General of the FN said regarding the disarmament issue "Do not make
people feel that nothing has been done. Things have been done. Things remain to
be done. We will do what remains to be done. But we have to at least note what
has been done. The f
orces
are together and are providing security together. I think that disarmament is a
process. This process must be accompanied. What is forbidden is to drawback.
So I note that
there has been progress There are phases remaining. Army camps in four towns.
We
take due note.

We can make the disarmament issue positive". With regard to election in Côte
d'Ivoire, the head of the Ivorian government said "I think that to organize the
election, we must have political will.

Political will makes
things simple.

And I think that Côte d'Ivoire needs election. (...) I ask Ivorians to maintain
their serenity ». Because according to him, "the more we do not have election,
the less we are taken seriously. When in fact it is important to have election
and that we pass at last an important phase in the crisis resolution process. So
I call on everyone. Let us have election quickly now, because it is possible to
organize this election... [...]"

Electoral
appeals/ Odette Sauyet clarifies: "The FPI calls for the withdrawal of
fraudsters from the electoral list and not immigrants"

L'Intelligent d'Abidjan

 - Odette
L. Sauyet was on Saturday, March 13, 2010 in Daoukro where she exchanged with
the population on the national political issues at the cultural centre of the
city. (...) She condemned RHDP officials, the authors of protests in February
2010, for their dishonesty. According to her, they have sacrificed lives and
public property for ministerial positions and that of Beugré Mambé. For the
president of Fpi, Affi N'Guessan's emissary, the opposition leaders are using
diverse tricks to extend the crisis. One of the proofs of these tricks, she
said, is their refusal, in the past, to use the electoral list of 2000, as
advocated by her party the Fpi to hold credible elections. To convince the
population of the good intentions of his party to delete fraudsters from the
electoral list Ms. Sauyet said "The FPI has always sought to track down
fraudsters from the electoral list. The Fpi is not tracking down foreigners."
She invited her audience to ignore people who accuse the presidential camp of
advocating the expulsion of non-nationals from both the electoral process and
Ivorian territory and rather, to appreciate the struggle for sovereignty and
development fiercely led by President Gbagbo. [...] "
