« The Prime Minister Guillaume Soro, on Wednesday, 17 February 2010, continued his consultations with a view to forming a government and agree a format for the new Independent Electoral Commission. At the end of the afternoon, he was with Henri Konan Bédié, chairman of the Pdci-Rda. And Guillaume Soro, at the end of the meeting, indicated that his daily consultations were making "good" progress. « I believe we are making progress in the ambiance and the in the context of the situation. M'Bahiakro: Thousands take to the streets
The town of M'Bahiakro is also involved in the challenge against Gbagbo regime. Thousands of people took to the streets to say that they are fed up with what they call Laurent Gbagbo's dictatorship. The opposition activists grouped in the RHDP organized a peaceful march which took place smoothly. (...)
Toumodi: « We are fed up of Gbagbo »
In Toumodi, the demonstration of the RHDP's activists was longer. From 6.00 AM to 2.00 PM, the crowds of people totally paralyzed the town by blocking the main road. According to witnesses, at least 5000 persons protested against Gbagbo saying: "We are fed up of Gbagbo, we want our identity cards. (...)
Yamoussoukro: several arrests
The RJDP's chairman, Yaya Ouattara, the RJR's community Chairman, Touré Vassansy, were called by the police. Taken by the police as the leaders, Touré Vassansy, Haïdara and N'Goran Marc, youth's adviser and DLC to Chairman Alassane Ouattara in neighbouring villages, were the target of the police of the first administrative district long before this march. From 6.00 Am to 1.00 pm, the tension was increasing in the political capital; to such an extent that at about 1.00 pm, red berets carried out a routine control.

"The Rally of Youth for Democracy and Peace held a general meeting in the PDCI-RDA's headquarters yesterday in Cocody. At the end of the meeting, the Chairman of the Young Houphouetists spoke to journalists. This is what he had to say: "You have just held a general meeting, what have you decided? (...) From Saturday, we said to our colleagues that they have the responsibility to react everywhere to ask for more democracy, more freedom, national unity and cohesion so that the economy can restart. I would like everyone to know that this is has been decided. From Friday, if the issue of the IEC and the posting of the definitive electoral list are not resolved, on Saturday, we will care about nothing else except resolving the situation. [...]".
