NATIONAL PRESS REVIEW FOR TUESDAY, 8 NOVEMBER 2011

Tabaski/Alassane Ouattara said: "We hope that these blessings
will bring the peace we are looking for"

L'Intelligent d'Abidjan -

Like any Muslim in Côte d'Ivoire President Ouattara celebrated on Sunday,
November 6, 2011 the Eid el Kebir commonly called Tabaski at the mosque in
Riviera Golf with other Muslims. At the end of the prayer, the Head of State
said that Tabaski was very important for Muslims and also for all Ivorians. "We
all pray and hope that the blessings that are received during this celebration
will bring peace to Cote d'Ivoire" Alassane Ouattara said. In his sermon at the
end of the prayer, the imam of the Riviera Golf mosque, Mamadou Traoré, (...)
invited his fellow worshippers to follow the example of the piety of the Prophet
Mohammed. For religious leader, the Ivorian crisis has not only caused huge
casualties and material damage, but it also has fostered injustice, corruption,
racketeering, deception, embezzlement of public funds, laxity, indiscipline,
easy money, patronage, crime, intolerance, xenophobia and tribal hatred. "In
this post-crisis period, as our country, Cote d'Ivoire is firmly committed to
the path of reconciliation, reconstruction and economic and social recovery, I
invite my brothers and sisters of all faiths

to banish
vices from our daily lives and return to the moral and human values

which
in the past characterized a prosperous and peaceful Côte d'Ivoire.

11 December
legislative elections: The list of all the candidates will be known tomorrow

Nord-Sud - (...)

Except for a last-minute reversal, the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC)
will tomorrow publish a list of all the candidates for the next legislative
election. Today, commissioners and other senior executives of that institution
will meet to decide. The aim of the meeting is to re-examine the latest
applications filed by the candidates of the Rally of Houphouetists for Democracy
and Peace (RHDP) and those of the National Congress for the resistance and
Democracy (CRND). According to our sources, the commissioners are unhappy with
the approach of Youssouf Bakayoko, the president of the IEC. They have
implicitly threatened not to participate in the validation of these
applications. For the former ruling party, the FPI, the publication of the list
of the candidates would mean its non-participation in these parliamentary
elections. For the RHDP to calm the discontent of some executives who wanted to
compete the direction of the coalition of political parties had allowed those
who wish to submit an application to do so.  In any case these last-minute
applications seem to be the biggest challenge of the IEC as it has to publish
the list of the final competitors. This remains the major issue because their
validation or not will be very critical on how the campaigns will be conducted
by the coalition of Houphouetists.

The CNRD has
its candidates/pro-Gbagbo will be released on Wednesday: The reaction of Gervais
Coulibaly

Le Nouveau Réveil

– What was needed from the CNRD and the FPI was a step, just a step towards
national reconciliation. Indeed, as soon as these political parties decided to
submit their list of candidates to the IEC that the prosecutor in Abidjan is
willing to free tomorrow on Wednesday, November 9 some Gbagbo supporters
imprisoned in various parts of the country. "The Attorney General of the Court
of Appeal in Abidjan said that the indictment of the Court of Appeal in Abidjan
will review various requests to release people charged in connection with the
post –electoral crisis" Attorney General Ibrahima Fofana said yesterday in a
press release. According to Gervais Coulibaly, the government, as part of the
discussions, was prepared to satisfy their demands, including the release of
their candidates as soon as they engaged themselves in the electoral process.
"We wanted the government to make the first move. Our interlocutors were also
waiting for the same from us. This is the snake biting its tail. Finally, we
decided to take this step and we expect the government's response ", Coulibaly
Gervais, candidate in Yopougon said. (...)

Post-electoral
crisis: The pro-Gbagbo imprisoned will be released

Notre Voie –

Can we believe that the prisoners of the post-electoral crisis will soon regain
their freedom? At least, this is what a statement signed yesterday by the
Attorney General Ibrahima Fofana suggested. "The Public Prosecutor at the Court
of Appeal in Abidjan told that the Court of Appeal in Abidjan will examine the
various requests for bail made by the people under arrest in connection with the
post-electoral crisis during a meeting on Wednesday, November 9, 2011" the
prosecutor said. These are dozens of supporters of Laurent Gbagbo who are
detained in various prisons in the country. At a recent meeting with a
delegation of the FPI and the CNRD, the Interior Minister, Hamed Bakayoko,
promised to release some prisoners if Gbagbo's party agreed to take part to the
legislative election.
