JORDANIAN POLICE OFFICER SERVING WITH UNOCI DIES


Abidjan, 6 June 2011.... The United Nations Operation in Côte d'Ivoire (UNOCI) regrets to announce the death of a Jordanian police officer serving with the mission. Sergeant Amer Alqudah drowned on Sunday, 5 June 2011.

Sergeant Alqudah, who arrived in UNOCI on 29 March 2011 with the Jordanian Formed Police Unit (JORDFPU-2), was 27 years old, single, with no children.

His death brings to 11 the number of police officers who have died while serving with UNOCI since the mission was deployed in April 2004.

UNOCI presents its sincere condolences to the Jordanian Government and the family of the deceased.
