Centralization
of the election results: UNOCI trusts the IEC

In an attempt


to stop the increasing tension which was prevailing regarding the
issue of the centralization of election results, scheduled on 31 October, the
United Nations Operation in Côte d'Ivoire (UNOCI), on Thursday, has expressed
its opinion. Speaking at the UN Mission's weekly press conference, Mr. Hamadoun
Touré, spokesperson for the United Nations Operation in Côte d'Ivoire said: "We
trust the IEC and we are working hand in hand with this institution", says
UNOCI's press release. "UNOCI notes with interest the centralization of the
election results and encourages the IEC's commissioners to organize it with
transparency and integrity by setting up the appropriate measures to ensure
this", said the Spokesman, Hamadoun Touré, who outlined that UNOCI has no
particular concern on this issue. "We trust the IEC and we work hand in hand
with it", said UNOCI's spokesperson.

France calls for
peaceful elections

Expressing her opinion on the situation in Côte d'Ivoire, yesterday at a press
conference, the deputy spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign and European
Affairs encouraged Ivorian actors to maintain the current dynamic for the
preparation of election planned by Ivorian authorities to be held on 31 October.
And she invited all Ivorian actors to work to promote a peaceful electoral
climate before, during and after the election. The elections are essential to
re-establish peace, stability and prosperity, she said.

Electoral
process / Bamba Yacouba, spokesperson: « The IEC will transport results to
Abidjan"

The spokesperson for the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC), Mr. Bamba
Yacouba on Thursday 21 October 2010, held a press conference and expressed his
opinion regarding the electoral process. With regard to the issue of the
centralization of the election results, he said that "any other technological
means is to be avoided and the IEC will manually count ballot papers in the
sub-prefecture, municipal, district and regional IEC offices until the results
are transported to Abidjan where they will be announced by the Institution's
Chairman". "The supervisors themselves will take the results to Abidjan
according to the IEC's methods", he added. He concluded by calling on Ivorians
to go to their enrolment centres and collect their voter and ID cards which are
the prerequisites to vote. His statement is attached.

Lorougnon was attacked again

cortege of the regional manager for the campaign of Laurent Gbagbo at Attecoubé,
Marie-Odette Lorougnon was attacked with unconventional arms last Wednesday.
While her campaign caravan was parading on the main roads, it was stoned near
the School for the Blind.... The militants of the presidential majority who were
going to the Jerusalem neighbourhood for a giga-meeting of the regional manager
of Laurent Gbagbo's campaign were shocked but not shaken. Back from Jerusalem,
she was resting at her home in Fairmont city in Attécoubé, when a group of
people besieged her house, insulted her and threatened her with death. Alerted,
the 10th district police station sent policemen and they dispersed the

Declaration/Withdrawal and purchase
of the voter and identity cards- The RDR denounces scheming attitude of the FDS
(security and defence force)




L'Expression–
Since
the official opening of the campaign for  the first round of the presidential
elections (...), it appears that some officers of the Defence and Security
Forces (SDS) have decided to confiscate identity cards from the Ivorian
citizens  because their names sound Northist. They concluded that they are not
Ivorian and therefore they do not deserve Ivorian identity cards.




 




According to a Gbagbo'S
adviser: «There will be no election... »

An adviser of the Head of State, Sebastien Zahiri Ziki said on
Thursday, October 21, 2010 during a press conference that on October 31 there
will be no election. (...) "I received another revelation. We should not hold
the polls October 31. God told me that as the conditions have not been met, we
