Financed through the UN Mission's Quick Impact Projects (QIPs), the school, which was rehabilitated at a cost of 5.4 million FCFA, has taken in 300 students since the beginning of the new school year. This represents double last year's number.

"The school is as good as new and that makes our children want to go there", said education adviser, Nessemon Joachin, who pointed out that before the rehabilitation of this temple of knowledge, only 150 students were registered during the last school year.

Sector West Commander, Brigadier-General Anisur Rahman, for his part, recalled the objective of the QIPs, initiated, he explained, to help the local population. He asked the residents of Totrodrou to take good care of the school so that several generations can benefit from it.

Echoing the words of General Rahman, the deputy prefect of Totrodrou, Comoé Amadou, urged parents to work with teachers to make good use of the premises. "From now on, all the conditions are there to ensure students are taught well", he said.

The Bangladeshi battalion in the Dix-huit Montagnes and Denguele regions provide constant support to the population, through the rehabilitation of several socio-educational buildings, free medical consultations and care as well as assistance in the event disaster (accidents, fire).
