Abidjan, 8 June 2009...The Under Secretary-General for United Nations Peacekeeping Operations, Alain Le Roy, is scheduled to pay a working visit to Côte d'Ivoire between 10 and 13 June 2009.

The visit, his first since he was appointed in June 2008, will give Mr. Le Roy the opportunity to assess the Ivorian peace process on the ground, with regard to the progress made and the challenges which remain in the implementation of the Ouagadougou Political Agreement.

In addition to the working sessions which he will have with the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Côte d'Ivoire, Y.J. Choi and chiefs of section, as well as Heads of UN Agencies, Mr. Le Roy will also hold discussions with several Ivorian and regional leaders involved in the search for solution to the Ivorian crisis.
