Fifty opinion leaders of western Côte d’Ivoire reflect on development and stability.

The UN System in Côte d'Ivoire invited some 50 opinion leaders of the nine administrative regions of west of the country to a forum in Daloa on Monday, 3 June 2013, to reflect on ways of getting involved and supporting the national reconstruction and reconciliation process.





UNOCI's head of Sector West, Ousmane Kane said the meeting was convened to allow participants, including members of the administrative corps, elected and senior officials of the Great West region, and youth leaders, to share their experiences and make a commitment to promote development and stability.



Participants examined the root causes of conflict in the region and proposed solutions aimed at ensuring lasting stability in that part of the country. They also examined UN Security Council Resolution 2062 which outlines the major priorities of the UN in Côte d'Ivoire and all joint initiatives for the benefit of the west of the country.
