UNOCI welcomes the announcement by the Public Prosecutor regarding the provisional release of some 50 post-electoral crisis detainees and the unfreezing of accounts of 31 personalities

Abidjan, Wednesday 21 January 2015...The Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Côte d'Ivoire, Mrs Aïchatou Mindaoudou, welcomes the announcement by the Public Prosecutor « that he has today ordered the provisional release of some 50 post-electoral-crisis detainees and that he will unfreeze the bank accounts of 31 personalities in this regards ».



This action, according to the Special Representative will contribute to strengthening mutual trust between Ivorian political actors and consolidate political dialogue.



Mrs Mindaoudou congratulates the Ivorian judiciary for all its efforts and encourage them to continue to deal as quickly as possible with the cases of the post-electoral crisis detainees.



The Special Representative urges all Ivorian actors to persevere with the national reconciliation process to which the country is already committed.



The United Nations Operation in Côte d'Ivoire (UNOCI) will spare no effort, in accordance with its mandate, in continuing to accompany Côte d'Ivoire on the road to peace and lasting stability.
