UNOCI Special Representative takes part in 5th African Union retreat to promote peace, security and stability in Africa



The Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Côte d'Ivoire, Mrs Aïchatou Mindaoudou, is taking part in the 5th high-level retreat of the African Union on the promotion of peace, security and stability in Africa being held in Arusha, Tanzania from 21 to 23 October 2014.



The theme of this year's annual meeting is "Silencing the guns and owning the future". Participants include Special Envoys and Representatives of the African Union, as well as experts on peace and security in Africa.



During the three-day meeting, some 120 participants will discuss how best to respond to violence and instability, as well as other threats and challenges that the African continent is facing. They will also discuss patterns in the current situation in order to come to a common understanding and agreement on how best to respond in the future.
