UNOCI Moroccan contingent donates school kits to pupils in Toulepleu

Some 30 pupils of several primary schools in Toulepleu, far west of Cote d'Ivoire, on Wednesday 24 September 2014 were beneficiaries of a donation of educational stationery made by the Moroccan contingent of the UN Operation in Cote d'Ivoire (UNOCI).

The donation which included exercise books, knapsacks, pens, reams of paper and other school supplies was made within the framework of UNOCI's civilian-military actions and handed over to the beneficiaries in the presence of the Sub Prefect of Toulepleu and education officials.

According to the Officer in charge of civilian-military relations, Commandant Fouad Nassiht, the gesture by the Moroccan contingent was aimed at assisting parents to provide stationery for their children and to encourage the pupils to begin the school year with fewer worries. Toulepleu was the last stage of a donation tour of schools which began in Guiglo and continued to Duekoue, Tai and Zouan-Hounien.

The Sub Prefect of Toulepleu, Albert Tra Bi, on behalf of the administration, thanked the Moroccan contingent of UNOCI for its constant support to the education sector while Mariam Bakayoko, one of the beneficiaries in the upper primary class expressed joy on behalf of her schoolmates.

Toulepleu recorded an 87% success in the recent First School Leaving Certificate and the Common Entrance exams into secondary school.
