UNOCI Chief meets with UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Sahel

Abidjan, 19 September 2014... The Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Côte d'Ivoire and head of the United Nations Operation in Côte d'Ivoire (UNOCI), Mrs Aïchatou Mindaoudou, on Friday, 19 September 2014, met in Abidjan with the UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy for the Sahel, Mrs Hiroute Gebre-Selassie who was on a working visit to Côte d'Ivoire.



During their meeting, the two officials discussed the latest developments in the region.



Speaking after the encounter, the Special Envoy told journalists : «We work for the same organisation in the same region, so it was important for us to

discuss issues of common concern. We discussed the issues of security and development in the region. We both found this very useful. We hope to continue to consult each other in the future, » said Mrs Hiroute Gebre-Selassie.



The Special Envoy, whose visit started on 18 September 2014, will leave Côte d'Ivoire on 19 September after meeting with the president of the African Development Bank, Donald Kaberuka.
