UNOCI Chief meets with ADDR Director-General

Special Representative of UN Secretary-General for Cote d'Ivoire, Mrs. Aichatou Mindaoudou on Friday 11 October 2013 received in audience the Director-general of the national Authority for disarmament, demobilization and Reintegration (ADDR), Fidele Sarassoro.



After the meeting, Mr. Sarassoro, who was accompanied by the Director of Security and Defense at the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, General Bruno Clement –Bollee, said their discussions centred on the issues of disarmament, demobilization and the reintegration-DDR- of ex-combatants.



"{We examined issues related to DDR and plans for future actions. The Special Representative gave us some guidelines which we hope to concretise very soon}," Mr. Sarassoro said. The ADDR Director said it was possible to demobilize 30,000 ex-combatants as prescribed in UN Security Council Resolution 2112 on Cote d'Ivoire. He considered then objective as ambitious stating: "{We are going to see with our privileged partner, the UN Operation in Cote d'Ivoire how we can speed up the process in order to attain this objective}," he concluded.



For his part, General Clement-Bollee explained his presence at the meeting saying he wished to put his experience at the service of the demobilization of ex-combatants. "{I believe every goodwill must be put together to attain the set objectives. There are certain avenues worth exploiting}," he said.
