UN Police train Ivorian maritime police on maritime security

UN Police in Cote d'Ivoire on 1st April 2014 trained some 19 agents of the Ivorian Port security group and Port police on the use of a life raft when abandoning a sinking ship. This was the 4th simulation exercise conducted by UN Police for Ivorian security agents at the Abidjan Autonomous Port and included the manipulation of the life raft and the use of its technical instruments in case of catastrophe at sea.



Twenty-three gendarmes underwent a similar training in September 2013. The training also covered maritime law, the use of maritime maps, maritime security, meteorology and the handling of an oil slick.
