Special Representative meets Foreign Affairs Minister of Burkina Faso

The Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Côte d'Ivoire, Mrs Aïchatou Mindaoudou, on Monday, 22 February 2016, held discussions with Burkina Faso's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Alpha Barry, at the headquarters of the United Nations Operation in Côte d'Ivoire (UNOCI) in Abidjan. Speaking after the encounter, Mr. Barry, who was on a working visit to Côte d'Ivoire, explained that his delegation had come to pay their respects and express their gratitude to the Special Representative for the work that UNOCI does in the country. He also recalled that there were millions of Burkinabes in Côte d'Ivoire who benefit from the positive effects of actions carried out by Mrs Mindaoudou through the UN Mission. The Burkinabe Foreign Affairs Minister said that even if the Special Representative works in Côte d'Ivoire, the effects of her work in the sub-region are felt in Burkina Faso. « We have benefitted from her advice at very crucial moments with regard to the relations between the two countries. We decided we should come and say thank you to her and tell her that we are still counting on her for all her future undertakings not only with regard to the security of Burkinabes living in Côte d'Ivoire, but also with regard to all that she can still do for the good relations between the two countries, » said Mr. Barry.
