POECI visits Special Representative

A delegation of the Platform of Civil Society Organisations for Election Observation in Côte d'Ivoire (known by its French acronym POECI), led by the president of its Administrative Council, Imam Ibrahima Koné, on Tuesday, 23 February 2016, met with the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Côte d'Ivoire, Mrs Aïchatou Mindaoudou.



The POECI delegation came to officially present the organisation's report on the presidential election of October 2015 to the head of the United Nations Operation in Côte d'Ivoire (UNOCI).



Speaking at the end of the meeting, the spokesperson of POECI, Dr. Marie-Paule Kodjo, said : «The presidential election was a peaceful, transparent and credible election. We want to renew what we did during this electione with the forthcoming legislative election and also explain to people what the referendum and the constitution are about. Increasingly, POECI is doing its best to find its place in order to become known as an important group, a pressure group which represents Ivorian ».



She welcomed the Special Representative's accompaniment in the form of various actions to a Côte d' Ivoire which is in the process of coming out of several years of crisis in order to find lasting peace.
