Special Representative and Minister of Higher Education discuss their collaboration

{"UNOCI will continue to accompany the Ministry in setting up Peace Clubs in Universities and Higher Education Colleges",} the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General in Côte d'Ivoire, Mrs Aïchatou Mindaoudou, announced on Tuesday, 16 February 2016 at the end of a meeting with the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Professor Ly Ramata Bakayoko.



During the visit the Special Representative first of all thanked the new Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research on her nomination in the Government. She then reiterated the support of the United Nations Operation in Côte d'Ivoire (UNOCI) and the United Nations agencies in the follow-up to the recommendations made at the end of the sensitsation campaign to promote the culture of peace, organised in collaboration with her Ministry in five Universities and two high education colleges in 2015, especially with regard to the setting up of Peace Clubs and providing them with equipments.



{"UNOCI plays an important role in pacifying universities"}, said the Minister, adding that training and research programmes can only be carried out in a peaceful university environment.



Other partners in this campaign include, the UN Development Programme (UNDP), the United Nations Education, Science, and Culture Organisation (UNESCO), the NGO Search for Common Ground, The Félix Houphouët Boigny Foundation for Peace and the National Programme for Sociale Cohesion (NPSC).
