Special Representative and Ivorian Head of State discuss the sociopolitical situation in Côte d'Ivoire

The Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Côte d'Ivoire, Mrs Aichatou Mindaoudou, on Wednesday, 18 February 2015, in Abidjan, met with the Ivorian Head of State, President Alassane Ouattara, to discuss different aspects of the socio-political situation and the political dialogue initiated by the Ivorian Government with the Opposition.
Speaking at the end of the meeting at the presidential palace, the head of the United Nations Operation in Côte d'Ivoire (UNOCI) said : « I outlined to the President of the Republic the activities that I have carried out as part of my good offices mission».
Mrs Mindaoudou also said that they had discussed the organization of the forthcoming elections.
The head of UNOCI said that she had also congratulated the Ivorian President on the victory of the national football team, the Elephants at the 30th edition of the Africa Nations Cup. She said she had expressed the hope the Elephants victory will provide an opportunity for Ivorians to come together. « This shows that when Ivorians are united and in solidarity, they can meet any challenge, » she added.
