Special Representative and Chinese Ambassador discuss political situation and future elections in Côte d’Ivoire





The Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Côte d'Ivoire, Mrs Aïchatou Mindaoudou and the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China, Mr. Zhang Guoging, on Wednesday, 16 July 2014, discussed the evolution of the political situation in the country.



Speaking after the encounter, Mr. Zhang said that he and the Special Representative also discussed future elections. « After the crisis, Côte d'Ivoire is now preparing presidential election in 2015 and we discussed how we best acccompany Ivorians in this process, » he added.



Noting the actions carried out by the UNOCI to accompany the national reconciliation process, Mr. Zhang said he was honoured to receive the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Côte d'Ivoire.
