Nouveau Courrier:


The Ivorian Women's Network for Reconciliation has adopted recommendations aimed

at speeding up the national reconciliation process. At the end of a meeting in

Abidjan on Sunday, the Network forwarded recommendations to the President of the

national Commission for Dialogue, Truth and Reconciliation, Charles Konan Banny

calling for the amended law on land ownership and nationality to be put to a

referendum.

The UN Coordiantor of Humanitarian Affairs, Ndolamb Ngokwey has called for

social cohesion among humanitarian actors. Speaking during celebrations to mark

World Humanitarian Aid Day on Monday 19 August, Mr.Ngokwey paid homage to

humanitarian workers throughout the world who had lost their lives trying to

bring humanitarian aid to the needy.

The External Relations Commission of the Ivorian National Assembly on Monday

unanimously adopted a bill authorising the Head of State to ratify international

conventions on the status of stateless persons.

The opposition FPI party has announced its readiness to take part in political

dialogue and the national reconciliation process. In a statement issued on

Monday following the release on bail of some top FPI party leaders, the  FPI

interim Secretary-general expressed satisfaction with the gesture of appeasement

by the Head of State Alassane Ouattara which they said would contribute to the

normalisation of the political situation in the country.

The Minister-delegate for Defense, Paul Koffi Koffi has promised tough times for

highway robbers. "They shall know no sleep since they have decided to disturb

the sleep of the citizens," the Minister said during a visit to the Gbeke region

on Monday.
