The Ivorian Armed Forces (FRCI), UNOCI Force and the French Licorne Force on

Tuesday adopted a new national security plan to fight against highway robbery.

The military tripartite summit decided to coordinate and adjust their security

systems in order to contain the crime which they said was tarnishing the

security reputation of the country.

UNOCI Force and the 3rd company of the Ivorian Army in Gagnoa have been put on a

state of maximum alert following persistent rumours of  impending attacks in the

centre-west region of the country.

The Commission on Dialogue, Truth and Reconciliation CDVR yesterday organised a

colloquium bringing together about a hundred participants with a broad knowledge

of the history of Cote d'Ivoire to examine the root causes of the crisis the

country has experienced. The head of  UNOCI's Human Rights Office, Eugene

Nindorera said understanding the root causes of the different crises constitutes

a real and unavoidable challenge if the country wants to follow the way of

reconciliation.

The criminal Appeal Court in Abidjan yesterday confirmed charges against 84

members of former president Laurent Gbagbo's entourage who are in detention for

serious crimes committed during the post electoral crisis. The pro-Gbagbo

personalities, among whom are the former first lady, Simone Gbagbo, former Prime

Minister Ake Ngbo and the former president's son, Michel Gbagbo, have been

charged with crimes ranging from genocide and undermining state security to

economic and blood crimes.

President Alassane Ouattara has expressed the wish that the next legislative

election would produce an inclusive parliament. Addressing the opening in

Abidjan yesterday of the 39th session of the Francophonie parliamentary

assembly, Mr. Ouattra said it was unfortunate that the FPI (the main opposition

party) had boycotted the last parliamentary election. Soir Info

highlights a call made on Monday by President Ouattara during an official visit

to the north in which he invited the FPI to join the peace process.
