Resumption of political dialogue between FPI and the Government: Special Representative and Minister of State discuss final preparations

On the eve of the resumption of political dialogue between the Ivorian Popular Front - Front Populaire Ivoirien (FPI) and Government, the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Côte d'Ivoire, Mrs Aichatou Mindaoudou, on Wednesday, 21 May 2014, received the Minister of State at the Presidency, Jeannot Ahoussou-Kouadio to discuss final preparations for the talks.



Speaking at the end of the discussions, the Minister of State told journalists: "We came to discuss the final preparations so that the talks tomorrow, Thursday 22 May are held in accordance with the ethics which govern all UNOCI actions but also to show the willingness of the President to achieve peace and reconciliation".



The Minister also stressed the importance of the contribution the Chief of UNOCI in bringing together the two positions, which he said resulted in them agreeing to a resumption of the political dialogue. In this regards, he reiterated the Government's gratitude to Mrs Mindaoudou.



It should be recalled that on Monday, 19 May, the Special Representative had met with Minister Ahoussou-Kouadio to discuss how arrangements for the resumption of the political dialogue between the FPI and the Government were progressing.
