The inhabitants of Petit Guiglo pledge to continue peaceful coexistence

The people of Petit Guiglo, in Guiglo, 530 km west of Abidjan have made a commitment to continue living together in peace. During an inter-communal sensitization meeting organized by the United Nations Operation in Côte d'Ivoire on Friday, 23 August 2013, representatives of the Mission's Civil affairs, Child Protection, Rule of Law and Public Information Sections, as well as the United Nations Population Fund and the Food and Agriculture Organisation made presentations on their respective activities.

The village chief, Francois Goule, said his people were satisfied with the meeting. "Your visit has given us a better understanding of the work of UNOCI and the UN agencies in our district," he said. "Cohabitation between the different communities is smooth and we are committed to continue to live like this because of the advantages of living in peace and reconciliation," he concluded.

The UN delegation thanked the people for having understood the necessity and benefits of living in a peaceful environment.
