UNOCI sensitises women in Akoupé on social cohesion

Some 30 women representatives of associations and NGOs in Akoupé, situated 142 km from Abidjan, were sensitized by the United Nations Operation in Côte d'Ivoire (UNOCI) about the need to promote peace, dialogue and social cohesion. The meeting was organized in collaboration with the divisional Department of Youth in Akoupé.

The representative of the Public Information Office told the women to unite around mutual projects to demonstrate their willingness to live together in a peaceful environment and give them an opportunity to help each other.

He called on them to be the messengers of peace and social cohesion advocated by UNOCI and supported by the Ivorian government through its national programme for social cohesion.

For his part, the director of the divisional Department of Youth, Souleymane Banassi, recommended that the women live together in mutual respect, respect for institutions and cultivate a civic spirit which also contributes to the consolidation of social cohesion.

The women committed themselves to overcoming all difficulties in order to unite and work for the appeasement of hearts, consolidate social cohesion in their families, the neighbourhood and the community.
