UNOCI condemns the terrorist attacks in Côte d’Ivoire and presents its condolences to victims’ families

Abidjan, 16 March 2016… The Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Côte d’Ivoire and Head of the United Nations Operation in Côte d’Ivoire, (UNOCI), Mrs Aïchatou Mindaoudou, condemns the terrorist attacks which were carried out on 13 March 2016 in Grand-Bassam, and in which 15 civilians and three soldiers were killed and several people injured.‎

The Head of UNOCI presents her heartfelt condolences to the victims’ families, to the people and Government of Côte d’Ivoire, as well as the Governments of the countries whose nationals were victims of these attacks. Mrs Mindaoudou wishes the injured a speedy recovery.

The Special Representative expresses the solidarity of the UN Mission with Ivorians and their Government and welcomes the launch of an inquiry by the national authorities in order to search for and arrest those responsible for this odious crime and bring them to justice.​
