UNOCI assists the IEC with the transportation of electoral material in Abidjan District

The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC), with the assistance of the United Nations Operation in Côte d'Ivoire (UNOCI), started delivering electoral material in the different local electoral commission in Abidjan district on Wednesday, 21 October 2015.



According to the IEC logistics expert, Christian Brou, all the electoral material have been in IEC warehouses since the 1st of September 2015. The packaging of the material ended on 30 September.



« Since the 5th of October, IEC logistics experts have taken practical measures to ensure that all the electoral materials are transported to the different local electoral commissions throughout the country. The electoral material for the diaspora were sent since 10 October and were received on 15 October. Delivery in the interior of the country started on 15 October and ended on Monday, 19 October. All the local electoral commissions across the country are already in possession of their electoral material, » said Mr. Brou.



With regard to Abidjan district, the delivery of electoral material in local electoral commissions started on 21 October. The electoral material include ballot boxes, voting booths, archive boxes, fax, computers and printers.



It should be noted that UNOCI is assisting in the transportation of electoral material within the framework of the United Nations support to the electoral process in Côte d'Ivoire, in accordance with UN Security Council Resolution 2226.
