Abidjan, 2 January 2016.... The Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Côte d'Ivoire and Head of the United Nations Operation in Côte d'Ivoire (UNOCI), Mrs Aïchatou Mindaoudou, welcomes the presidential pardon granted by the President of Côte d'Ivoire, Mr. Alassane Outtara, on 31 December 2015 to more than 3000 detainees of the post-electoral crisis of 2010-2011.



The Special Representative encourages all political actors to work tirelessly to strengthen social cohesion and national reconciliation.



UNOCI, in accordance with its mandate, together with the United Nations System, will continue to support Ivorians and their national authorities in their efforts to consolidate peace and national reconciliation in Côte d'Ivoire.
