The Special Representative of the United Nations Secretray-General for Côte d’Ivoire, Mrs Aïchatou Mindaoudou, on Tuesday, 29 October 2015, had a working session with the IEC Chairman, Youssouf Bakayoko

As part of her regular encounters with members of the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) to discuss progress regarding cooperation between the United Nations Operation in Côte d'Ivoire (UNOCI) and the institution, the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretray-General for Côte d'Ivoire, Mrs Aïchatou Mindaoudou, on Tuesday, 29 October 2015, had a working session with the IEC Chairman, Youssouf Bakayoko.



The two officials discussed the electoral process in general and the organization of the presidential election on 25 October 2015, in particular.

Speaking at the end of the meeting which was held at the IEC's headquarters, the Special Representative recalled UNOCI's role of accompanying the IEC in certain aspects of the organization of the 25 October election, in accordance with its mandate as outlined in UN Security Council Resolution 2226.



« We spoke about the latest developments in the work, especially with regard to identifying the modalities of our accompaniment of the IEC in the areas of security and logistics, » she said.



« I am reassured by the Electoral Commission and the work it is doing because the timetable up until now has been respected, » said the Chief of UNOCI, adding that she was satisfied with the commitment of the IEC Chairman and members of the Electoral Commission to do all they can to ensure that the timetable is respected and that all relevant activities would be carried out within the deadline.
