Special Representative receives new UNICEF Representative in Côte d’Ivoire

The Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Côte d'Ivoire and head of the United Nations Operation in Côte d'Ivoire (UNOCI), Mrs Aïchatou Mindaoudou, on 5 February 2014, received the new Representative of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) to Côte d'Ivoire, Mrs Adèle Khudr, at the headquarters of the United Nations Mission in Abidjan.

Speaking after the encounter, Mrs Khudr said : « We spoke about the situation of children and her visit to the west of Côte d'Ivoire some time this month. I asked her to visit schools so that she can see the situation regarding the education of children, especially the education of girls ». She said it was the first time she had discussed the issue of children with Mrs Aïchatou Mindaoudou.

It should be recalled that the Special Representative announced on Friday 31 January 2104 that she will soon be heading a high-level delegation comprising members of United Nations institutions in Côte d'Ivoire to the west of the country to assess the actions and activities to help the population and assess their needs, as well as see how best to accelerate progress in the region.
