Special Representative meets Minister for Human Rights and Public Liberties

As part of a series of visits since the beginning of the year to meet members of the Ivorian Government to congratulate them and reaffirm her support to them, the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Côte d'Ivoire and Head of the United Nations Operation in Côte d'Ivoire (UNOCI), Mrs Aïchatou Mindaoudou, on Wednesday, 10 February 2016, met with the Ivorian Minister for Human Rights and Public Liberties, Mrs Paulette Badjo Ezouehu, formerly president of the Human Rights Commission of Côte d'Ivoire.



Speaking at the end of the meeting, Mrs Badjo Ezouehu highlighted the Special Representative's accompaniment of the Commission's activities through UNOCI sections, adding that « Mrs Mindaoudou's visit is a sign of her support to the Ivorian Government for having created a whole ministry in charge of human right».



Asked about the human rights situation in Côte d'Ivoire, the Minister said that there had been some improvement but more needed to be done.
