The Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Côte d'Ivoire, Chief of the United Nations Operation in Côte d'Ivoire, Mrs Aïchatou Mindaoudou met successively with delegations of the National Coalition For Change (CNC) and the Panafrican Congress for Justice and Equality for People, on Thursday, 21 January 2016.

Speaking after their encounter, the head of the CNC delegation, Bah Jean Énoch, said that they discussed political dialogue, the release of prisoners of the postelectoral crisis and the return of exiles with the Special Representative.

« We came to present our New Year wishes to the Special Representative and discuss our current concerns as part of the Opposition. Our concerns are with regard to the release of prisoners of the postelectoral crisis, the return of exiles and a better national reconciliation process, » he said, adding that in their eyes the most important thing is a less tense political atmosphere.

« Our responsibility as part of the Opposition is to ensure equal justice for everyone and reconciliation, which is something we have always worked for, » he stressed.

Mr Bah Jean Énoch also asked UNOCI to continue to accompany Côte d'Ivoire in its quest for peace and reconciliation.

For his part, Mr. Nogbou Hyancinthe of the Panafrican Congress said that his delegation came to present their organisation, its vision, its political position in Côte d'Ivoire and its intentions to the Special Representative. He also asked the UN Mission to continue to support Ivorians in the normalisation of their country.
