Special Representative holds discussions with high-level delegation lead by the Mayor of Ouragahio

A high-level delegation of traditional chiefs, dignitaries, youth and women representatives, led by the Mayor of Ouraghio, Dr Pierre Dacoury Tabley, was received by the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Côte d'Ivoire, Mrs Aichatou Mindaoudou, on Monday, 30 November 2015 at the headquarters of the United Nations Operation for Côte d'Ivoire (UNOCI).



Speaking after the meeting, the Mayor told journalists : "We came to congratulate and thank the Special Representative for her prompt intervention during the recent events which took place in Ouragahio. She helped us to bring everyone together and discuss our issues openly ». This, he said, had helped Ouragahio to re-establish peace.



Mr. Dacoury Tabley also spoke about the community projects, which are currently being carried out as well as other requests for projects that have been made to the UN Mission. These include the construction of a meeting room in the sous préfecture, the rehabilitation and equipping of Ouragahio health centre, the rehabilitation of a primary school, as well as the construction of a youth centre and repairing the local football field. In addition, the Mayor of Ouragahio said that the local secondary now had a clinic thanks to UNOCI's Quick Impact Projects programme.



"When you have people to carry out concrete actions for the people of Ouragahio, it is only normal for us to come and say thank you and show that we are ready to work for peace, tranquility and development.
