Special Representative and the Minister of Youth discuss young people’s contribution to peace

The Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Côte d'Ivoire, Aïchatou Mindaoudou, on Tuesday, 6 October 2015, held discussions with the Ivorian Minister of Youth, Sidi Touré, at the headquarters of the United Nations Operation in Côte d'Ivoire (UNOCI) in Abidjan.



The two officials discussed young people's contribution to peace, among other issues.​

Speaking at the end of the meeting, Mr. Touré insisted : « We should know that a young person who works is a young person who will never allow himself to become involved in violence during elections. We assured the Special Representative that in our department, we are working to contribute to the consolidation of peace, to encourage young people to behave responsibly as good citizens so that the elections will be peaceful ». The Minister added that he was happy with the support UNOCI has given to his Ministry.
