Special Representative and African Diplomats discuss latest developments in Côte d’Ivoire





The Special Representative of the United Nations SecretaryGeneral for Côte d'Ivoire, Mrs Aïchatou Mindaoudou, on Wednesday, 18 November 2014, met a group of African ambassadors accredited to Côte d'Ivoire at the headquarters of the United Nations Operation in Côte d'Ivoire (UNOCI).



The meeting, which is the second one the head of UNOCI has had with the African ambassadors this year, is part of her regular encounters with members of the diplomatic corps accredited to Côte d'Ivoire. During the meeting, Mrs Mindaoudou and the African ambassadors discussed the implementation of the Mission's mandate as well as the latest developments, including the socio-political situation, security, and progress in the electoral process, in the country.



The Special Representative also informed the African ambassadors about the assistance that UNOCI was providing in the setting up of the United Nations Mission for the Fight Against Ebola in West Africa whose headquarters is based in Ghana. « UNOCI is providing logical, technical as well as human assistance to the Mission, » she told the ambassadors.



Speaking after the encounter, the Ambassador of Gabon, Mr. Mounguengui Nzigou Faustin said: « This discussions give ambassadors the opportunity to receive the same information ».



The meetings between the Special Representatives and the Group of African Ambassadors are held every three months.
