Special Representative Aïchatou Mindaoudou embarks on series of meetings with Ivorian political parties and groups

The Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Côte d'Ivoire and head of the United Nations Operation in Côte d'Ivoire (UNOCI), Mrs Aïchatou Mindaoudou, on Tuesday, 30 July 2013, met with a delegation representing members of political parties of the Standing Framework for Dialogue - Cadre Permanent de Dialogue (CPD) in Abidjan.



The meeting was the first in a series of encounters between the Special Representative and Ivorian political actors this week. « As I have just taken up my duties, it was necessary for me to meet with Ivorian political actors and assure them of my availability to work with them within the framework of the duties given to me by the United Nations Secretary-General for the implementation of UNOCI's mandate as decided by the Security Council to accompany the peace and reconciliation process in Côte d'Ivoire » said the Special Representative at the end of the meeting.



Mrs Mindaoudou also continues her meetings with other UNOCI partners at the same time as her encounters with Ivorian political actors. In this regards, today, she also met a delegation of the National Commission for Human Rights led by its president, Mrs Ezouehu Paulette Badjo.



The cooperation between the Commission and UNOCI was the main topic of their discussions. The Special Representative and the president of the Commission reiterated their commitment to continue the partnership between the two institutions. Highlighting the role of the National Commission for Human Rights in the protection and promotion of human rights and the reconciliation process, the Special Representative said she intended to continue the technical assistance to strengthen the capacity of the Commission provided by the Mission.
