Special Representante attends signing of Code of Conduct for political partries, groups and electoral candidates in Côte d’Ivoire

The Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Côte d'Ivoire, Chief of the United Nations Operation in Côte d'Ivoire, (UNOCI), Aïchatou Mindaoudou, on Wednesday, 7 October 2015, attended a ceremony of the signing of the Code of Conduct for political parties, groups and electoral candidates in Côte d'Ivoire.



We are counting on you to spread the message of the Code



The ceremony was organised under the auspices of the National Democratic Institute (NDI). Four candidates contesting the presidential election scheduled for 25 October 2015, namely Jacqueline-Claire Kouangoua, Henriette, Lagou Adjoua, Pascal Affi N'Guessan and Alassane Ouattara signed the Code of Conduct in the presence of members of members of the Government, the diplomatic corps, as well as representatives of political groups and parties and civil society.



The Director of NDI, Mr. Christopher Fomunyoh said that any presidential election candidates who did not take part in the signing ceremony can sign the Code of Conduct at any time. « The Code of Conduct is your code, it was drawn up by you, all the political parties and the different candidates. We are counting on you to spread the message of the Code. We are also conuting on your leadership to ensure that the people of Côte d'Ivoire, through their participation, behave in a democratic way according to the spirit of the Code, » he concluded.
