Special Representative and Ivorian Foreign Affairs Minister discuss their cooperation

As part of her regular encounters with Ivorian Government officials, the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Côte d'Ivoire, Mrs Aïchatou Mindaoudou, on Friday, 21 November 2014 met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Charles Diby Koffi to discuss cooperation between the United Nations Operation in Côte d'Ivoire (UNOCI) and Côte d'Ivoire in general, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in particular, in an effort to ensure peaceful presidential election.



Speaking after the meeting, Minister Diby said that he and Mrs Mindaoudou had discussed the actions carried out by UNOCI with the population in the field to implement projects that promote national reconciliation.



"We assured the Special Representative of the Ministry's willingness to participate in these projects by taking into account rural communities and ensuring that everyone feels involved in UNOCI's actions. 2015 is approaching and we must ensure that the elections are peaceful, » said Mr. Diby, adding that the Special Representative had done well to anticipate these things.



Regarding the elections, Mrs Mindaoudou said that she and Minister Diby had discussed ways and means in which the Mission could accompany Ivorians in creating the right conditions for the holding of peaceful presidential election in 2015.
