The newly elected Malian President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita is expected in Abidjan
today on his second external visit after Chad since coming to office. He will be
received at the airport by his Ivorian counterpart, Alassane Ouattara.

PDCI party President Henri Konan Bedie is envisaging institutional reforms aimed
at creating the post of vice president of the republic and a senate. Mr. Bedie
who plans to run for re-election as party president during the October 2013 PDCI
Congress, has been urging his supporters to endorse proposals for institutional
reforms. Mr Bedie also wants administrative reforms reducing the number of
regions from 31 to 12.

Three candidates who have declared their intention to run for the PDCI party
presidential election in October: Djedje Mady, Kouadio Konan Bertin (KKB), Yao
Kouassi have formed an alliance to challenge the candidacy of incumbent party
president , 79 year-old Henri Konan Bedie. At a meeting held yesterday in view
of the forthcoming party congress, the three candidates called for a congress
organising committee in which each candidate shall have equal representation
instead of the present organising committee dominated by supporters of the
incumbent party leader.

119 Ivorian refugees in Togo and Ghana were voluntarily repatriated yesterday by
the UN High Commission for Refugees. The refugees said they were encouraged to
return home following the recent release on bail of members of the close
entourage of former president Laurent Gbagbo.

The Minister-delegate for Defense has addressed a letter to the National Press
Council informing it that the Military Code forbids members of the armed forces
and the gendarmerie from granting interviews to the public and private media
unless authorised to do so by the Minister of Defense, the Army Chief of Staff
or the High Commander of the National Gendarmerie.

The President of the National coordination of Moor Parks in Cote d'Ivoire and
member of the Union of Transporters Associations, Toure Adama says the
government has up till Wednesday, 3 September to clean up the transport sector
and if nothing is done, they shall not hesitate to renew their strike action. A
strike action launched on Monday 26 August by taxi-metered taxis in Abidjan was
called off on Wednesday night after the Interior Minister brokered a settlement.
