National reconciliation at the centre of discussions between Head of UNOCI and FPI president

A delegation of the Front Populaire Ivoirien (FPI) led by its president, Pascal Affi N'Guessan, held discussions with the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Côte d'Ivoire and the Head of the United Nations Operation in Côte d'Ivoire (UNOCI), Mrs Aïchatou Mindaoudou, on Friday, 6 December 2013, at the headquarters of the UN Mission in Abidjan.

Speaking to the press after the meeting, the FPI president, Mr. Affi N'Guessan said he came to see the chief of UNOCI as part of his party's lobbying and communication campaign to explain their proposal to organise a national conference implicating all sections of Ivorian society as part of the national reconciliation process. "{We talked about reconciliation, an issue which has mobilised us during the past weeks and it is important that it progresses}," he said.

Asked about what he is expecting from UNOCI, Mr. Affi N'Guessan said that the FPI hopes that UNOCI "{will encourage all Ivorian actors to approach their proposal with a positive attitude and to enrich it with their suggestions}".
