How to report an allegation of misconduct committed by UNOCI personnel

UNOCI’s Conduct and Discipline Team (CDT) is mandated to receive allegations of misconduct committed by UNOCI personnel. You may therefore report any alleged wrongdoing committed by UNOCI personnel, whether civilian, military or police, to the CDT Office through CDT’s telephone hotline numbers or by email at:

06 20 61 00 or 20 23 61 00

ONUCI-CDT-CONFIDENTIAL@UN.ORG

You may also meet with a Conduct and Discipline Officer at UNOCI Headquarters in Abidjan. If you are unable to contact the Conduct and Discipline Team, you can reach out to a local non-governmental organization (NGO) in your locality that will contact UNOCI on your behalf.

What are the rules that UNOCI personnel should respect with regard to the local population?

UNOCI personnel, whether civilian, military or police, shall, in all circumstances, treat the local population with respect and dignity. The behavior of UNOCI personnel shall comply at all times with the highest standards of integrity, as well as local laws.

It is strictly prohibited for all UNOCI personnel to engage in the following acts:

  • Any sexual activity with children (which includes all persons below the age of 18 years old)
  • Any exchange of money, job, goods, or services for sexual purposes, including prostitution.
  • All acts of sexual exploitation and abuse or all forms of sexual conduct of a humiliating or degrading nature.

What will UNOCI do if their personnel commit acts of misconduct?

UNOCI will ensure that all misconduct allegations are immediately and thoroughly investigated. All members of UNOCI personnel, who are found responsible for violations of standards of conduct will be held accountable and will be subject to disciplinary or criminal procedures.
