Assistant Secretary-General for UN Peacekeeping Operations meets President Alassane Ouattara

The Assistant Secretary-General for UN Peacekeeping Operations, El Ghassim Wane, met with the Ivorian Head of State, President Alassane Ouattara, to discuss issues related to the strategic review of the United Nations Operation in Côte d'Ivoire (UNOCI), on 19 February 2016.



Mr. Wane was accompanied by the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Côte d'Ivoire, Mrs Aïchatou Mindaoudou and a high-level delegation.



Speaking at the end of the encounter, ASG Wane said: "We are pleased with the remarkable progress that has been made in Côte d'Ivoire in such a short space of time".



Mr. El Ghassim Wane met with the Ivorian President to discuss the modalities for the closure of UNOCI, as its main objectives have been attained, and to identify areas in which the support of the United Nations and the international community may still be required.
