Aïchatou Mindaoudou continues her encounters with Ivorian political actors by meeting the secretary-general of Rassemblement des Républicains (RDR)

The Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Côte d'Ivoire and head of the United Nations Operation in Côte d'Ivoire (UNOCI), Aïchatou Mindaoudou, was received by the secretary-general of the Rassemblement des Républicains de Côte d'Ivoire (RDR), Amadou Soumahoro, surrounded by several officials from the party.





The meeting was part of the Special Representative's courtesy calls on the different components of Ivorian society to formally introduce herself after taking up her duties on 8 July 2013.



Speaking to members of the press after the meeting, Mrs Mindaoudou said she had reiterated her willingness to accompany all Ivorians in the return to peace and stability in Côte d'Ivoire. The Special Representative also said that the RDR secretary-general had expressed his party's determination to build real democracy in an effort to advance the reconciliation process, as well as the return of peace in Côte d'Ivoire. In addition, he reaffirmed the importance of political dialogue and the role of the opposition in the democratic process.



Aïchatou Mindaoudou started her meetings with Ivorian political actors on Monday, 29 July 2013. Since then she has met with representatives of the Cadre Permanent de Dialogue – The Permanent Framework for Dialogue (CPD) the Rassemblement pour la Paix, le Progrès et le Partage (RPPP) party, the Front Populaire Ivoirien (FPI), the Parti Ivoirien des Travailleurs (PIT) and the Rassemblement des Républicains de Côte d'Ivoire(RDR).
