Special Representative and Itinerant American Ambassador discuss transitional justice in Côte d’Ivoire

The Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Côte d'Ivoire, Mrs Aichatou Mindaoudou, on Wednesday, 4 June 2014, discussed the issue of transitional justice in Côte d'Ivoire with the Itinerant American Ambassador for War Crimes and Director of International Penal Justice, Stephen Rapp.







Speaking after the meeting, Mr. Rapp said that he and the Special Representative had also discussed the contribution of the international community, especially the United Nations and the United States of America to the re-establishment of the rule of law in Côte d'Ivoire in order to achieve national reconciliation and lasting peace in the country.







During his visit to Côte d'Ivoire, the American Ambassador will meet with several officials from the justice system. He has already met with the President of the Dialogue, Truth and Reconciliation Commission, Charles Konan Banny. "The work of the Commission is going very well," Mr. Rapp told journalists.
