Special Representative of UN Secretary-General in Cote d’Ivoire urges FPI and Government to resume negotiations

Abidjan, 22 April 2014... The Special Representative of UN Secretary-General in Cote d'Ivoire, Mrs. Aichatou Mindaoudou has urged the Ivorian Popular Front (FPI) and the Government to resume negotiations. She made the appeal following a meeting at the FPI HQ in Abidjan on Tuesday 22 April 2014.



Reiterating that dialogue was the only way within the framework of the national reconciliation process in Cote d'Ivoire, the Special Representative said she was satisfied with the constructive state of mind that prevailed during the discussions.



She encouraged all the actors concerned to continue their efforts in order to respond to the legitimate aspirations of the Ivoirian people.

Mrs. Mindaoudou reiterated the readiness of the UN Operation in Cote d'Ivoire (UNOCI) to support all the Ivorian parties in the national reconciliation process, political dialogue, and the restoration of a lasting peace as well as the different reforms in view of the election billed for 2015.
