Special Representative discuses financial autonomy for women with Minister of Solidarity, Family and Women’s Affairs

UN Special Representative and Head of the UN Operation in Cote d'Ivoire (UNOCI), Mrs. Aichatou Mindaoudou met on Tuesday 11 February 2014 with the Ivorian Minister of Solidarity, Family and Women and Children's Affairs, Mrs. Anne-Desire Oulotto at the Mission HQ in Abidjan.

Mrs. Oulotto said they had discussed issues of common interest. "We are all working for Ivorian families and UNOCI is working for Ivorians to get together and dialogue on the post-crisis period," she said.

The Minister disclosed that a pilot project aimed at promoting financial independence for women is underway in Katiola, 430 km north of Abidjan. "We would be going to Katiola in the near future within the context of financial autonomy for women," she said adding: "UNOCI has put up a very important structure that would serve the federation of some 80 women's organizations in Katiola."
