Abidjan, 25 September 2013....The United Nations Operation in Côte d'Ivoire (UNOCI) has received urgent information that two of its personnel could be involved in a criminal matter.



UNOCI immediately took the matter seriously and opened an internal investigation without prejudice on the right procedures to follow in Côte d'Ivoire. UNOCI would like to recall its long tradition of cooperation with the national judicial institutions whenever there has been the need to do so.



UNOCI will continue this collaboration with regard to any investigation that is deemed necessary concerning this matter. This is in accordance with the obligation of mutual assistance and the procedure to follow once informed on any matter as stipulated in UNOCI's Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) between the United Nations Organisation and the Ivorian Government.
